History

The Niagara River is known to have existed since the last Ice Age which is close to almost 200 centuries ago. With time, the ice melted and about 12’500 years ago ice there was no longer any ice on the Niagara Peninsula.

The flowing waters became what is known today as Lake Erie, Niagara River, Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River. It is important to note that the Niagara Falls emerged from five spillways that through time, were reduced only to one.

From then, The Falls have endured constant erosion and this is a continuous process that is still happening today.Interesting enough, Niagara Falls is situated at the international border between Ontario Canada and New York in the USA.

This natural wonder attracts millions of tourists each year, and is considered to be one of the largest waterfalls in the entire world, second only to Victoria Falls in Africa.
