Both Canadian and American side of the Niagara Falls are breathtaking. It is said that Niagara Falls as a honeymoon place became popular after the release of Marilyn Monroe’s Niagara movie. It pictured the area as a romantic getaway of cottages with a great view of The Falls. In present day, urbanization has cleared the cottages and made way for bigger buildings.

In the past, renown figures have selected Niagara Falls as their honeymoon spot, including Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother Jerome and his bride. As well as Thedosia Burr, daughter of Aaron Burr (third Vice President of USA).

The attention brought to the area in this light, has inspired many newly wedded couples to consider it as their honeymoon destination. Some have claimed that the waterfalls to be an aphrodisiac. To add on to the view of this natural wonder, honeymooners spend time with the numerous attractions and entertainment in the area, as well as the locations for fine wining and dining. History

The Niagara River is known to have existed since the last Ice Age which is close to almost 200 centuries ago. With time, the ice melted and about 12’500 years ago ice there was no longer any ice on the Niagara Peninsula.
